Feckenham's Visitor from Tokyo

Shogo Kudo is a post graduate student of Tokyo University. He visited Feckenham Community Shop recently as part of his research project on rural ageing and community projects in Japan. Many of the rural areas in Japan are facing critical declines in community vitality and daily services because many younger people leave country areas to work in the towns and cities. He was touring the UK to study community projects here to see whether similar ventures would help improve the lives particularly of older people in rural Japan. He says in an email sent on his return that, although it may take some time to start concrete actions, he was very hopeful of progress as a result of his visit.
